We all face challenges in our lives.
Some we manage on our own, with others we can use some help.
Many of us experience some form of emotional
difficulty, stress, relationship issue, or conflict. Choosing
a therapist who is right for you and has the expertise in
the areas of concern to you and your family is crucial.
Our trained and experienced counsellors at
JFS provide confidential counselling to children, adolescents, and adults. We offer individual, couple, family, and group
counselling tailored to support you in identifying and reaching
your achievable goals.
Our counsellors utilize a variety of theoretical
approaches in their work. They have a holistic, client-centred
approach to counselling.
Our team of licensed therapists are equipped

Services include crisis intervention,
behaviour modification, referrals, and therapies of varying
duration. Licensed counselling practitioners assist counselling
clients to explore available choices and offer support in
setting and reaching goals. Counselling is available for children
and adolescents. Psychoeducational testing and evaluation
for children ages six to sixteen is available. Advocacy is
also available for those requiring assistance in accessing
resources in the community.
All JFS counsellors have Masters Degrees
in their chosen disciplines and are registered members of
their professional associations. They receive supervision
on a regular basis and access professional development opportunities.

Prospective clients may self-refer or be
referred by others. All inquiries about counselling will be
directed to
the Intake Worker, who will assist you to consider
your service options and will address the issue of fees.
Wait
times can be up to two weeks, but are usually less than most
agencies.
All services offered by counsellors at Jewish
Family Services are provided with strict respect for confidentiality,
except where someone is a danger to him or herself or others

JFS counselling fees are affordable and available
on a sliding scale based on family income and size. We accept
third party coverage programs and our counselling services
are covered by most workplace and private health care and
insurance plans.
JFS is proud to announce that it is a counselling
partner in the Victims Quick Response Program (VQRP)
of the
Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General. When the funding
for those who have qualified for VQRP ends, JFS will assess
clients who wish to continue their counselling journey according
to a sliding scale, in order to
allow for continued work with
the same counsellor. The fee will be assessed according to
the client’s income and the number of dependents he/she has.
