
Student Support
The Counselling Group's Student Support Service
provides a range of school-based counselling modalities to
students attending Jewish schools which have a fee for service
contract with JFS. Confidentiality of students
and their families
is assured.
Services offered include:
• Short term individual and family counselling.
• Emergency and crisis intervention.
• Play therapy.
• Anti-bullying and anti-violence programs.
• The Friendship Club social skills group.
• Consultation with school staff regarding individual and classroom issues.
• Consultation and referral to other social service resources.
• Specialized workshops and presentations developed in collaboration with each school.
Groups services are offered for:
• Children experiencing separation, divorce, and loss.
• Families needing guidance concerning issues of substance abuse, gambling, and adolescent sexuality.
• Shalom Bayit.
• Students and families may be referred to the Jewish Family Services Counselling Unit for longer term therapy.
Psycho-educational testing
JFS is pleased to have the services of a school counsellor, Stacey Young, M. Ed. (Psych), who also provides psycho-educational testing to children aged 6 - 16 in a timely fashion, for a reasonable cost.
